Privacy Policy

DMV Ready (“we,” “our,” or “the App”) is developed and operated by DMV Ready LLC. We are committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what information the App collects, how it is used, and your choices regarding your data.

By downloading, installing, or using DMV Ready, you agree to this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.

1. Information We Collect

1.1 Information You Provide

  • State selection - the U.S. state you choose so the App can tailor practice tests to your state’s exam format.
  • Study preferences - settings such as hint display preferences, haptic feedback, study reminder time, and test date for study plan generation.
  • Bookmarks and favorites - questions and rules you mark for later review.

1.2 Information Generated Through Use

  • Study progress - questions answered, correct and incorrect responses, exam scores, topics studied, rules read, signs learned, and practice ticket completion.
  • Performance analytics - accuracy rates, streak counts, points earned, achievements unlocked, and readiness assessment data. These are calculated entirely on your device.
  • Study plan data - your selected test date, generated daily study tasks, and completion status.

1.3 Information We Do Not Collect

  • We do not collect your name, email address, phone number, or any account credentials. The App has no user account or login system.
  • We do not collect your location data.
  • We do not collect device identifiers for tracking or advertising purposes.
  • We do not use any third-party analytics, advertising, or crash-reporting services.

2. How Your Data Is Stored

2.1 Local Storage

All of your study progress, preferences, and app data are stored locally on your device using standard iOS storage mechanisms (UserDefaults and local JSON files in the App’s sandboxed Documents directory). This data never leaves your device except as described in Section 2.2.

2.2 iCloud Sync (Optional)

If you have iCloud enabled on your device, the App may use Apple’s iCloud Key-Value Storage to sync your study progress across your Apple devices signed into the same Apple ID. This sync is handled entirely by Apple’s iCloud infrastructure. You can disable iCloud for this App in your device’s Settings > Apple ID > iCloud.

2.3 No External Servers

DMV Ready does not operate any external servers or databases. We do not transmit, store, or process your data on any remote server.

3. Camera and Photo Library

The App includes a Sign Scanner feature that allows you to photograph or select images of traffic signs for identification.

  • Camera access is used solely to photograph traffic signs for instant on-device identification.
  • Photo Library access is used solely to select existing photos of traffic signs for identification.
  • All image processing is performed entirely on your device using Apple’s Vision framework. No images are transmitted to any external server, stored beyond the immediate processing session, or shared with any third party.
  • You may deny or revoke camera and photo library permissions at any time in your device’s Settings without affecting the rest of the App.

4. Push Notifications

The App may request permission to send push notifications for:

  • Study reminders - a daily reminder at a time you choose to help you stay on track with your study plan.
  • Motivational nudges - periodic encouragement to continue studying.

All notifications are scheduled locally on your device. No notification data is sent to any external server. You can disable notifications at any time in your device’s Settings > Notifications > DMV Ready.

5. Subscriptions and Purchases

DMV Ready offers optional in-app purchases (a monthly subscription and a lifetime purchase) processed entirely through Apple’s App Store using StoreKit. We do not directly collect, process, or store any payment information such as credit card numbers or billing addresses. All payment processing is handled by Apple in accordance with Apple’s Privacy Policy.

We store only your subscription status (active or inactive) locally on your device to determine which features to unlock.

6. Game Center

The App integrates with Apple Game Center for leaderboard functionality. If you are signed into Game Center, your score (points earned) may be submitted to Game Center’s leaderboard. Game Center is operated by Apple, and your Game Center profile and data are governed by Apple’s Privacy Policy. Participation in Game Center is optional and depends on your Game Center sign-in status.

7. Third-Party Services

DMV Ready uses the following Apple platform services:

  • StoreKit (Apple) - for in-app purchase and subscription management.
  • Game Center (Apple) - for leaderboard functionality.
  • iCloud Key-Value Storage (Apple) - for optional cross-device progress sync.
  • Vision Framework (Apple) - for on-device image recognition in the Sign Scanner.

We do not integrate any third-party analytics, advertising, tracking, social media, or AI services.

8. Children’s Privacy

DMV Ready is an educational app designed for individuals preparing for a DMV permit test, typically ages 14 and older. The App is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we become aware that we have inadvertently collected information from a child under 13, we will take steps to delete such information promptly. 9. Your Rights and Choices

9.1 Access and Deletion

Since all data is stored locally on your device, you have full control over it at all times:

  • Clear Statistics - use the “Clear Statistics” option in the App’s Settings to erase all study progress, scores, and history.
  • Reset Settings - use the “Reset Settings” option to restore all preferences to their defaults.
  • Delete the App - uninstalling DMV Ready from your device permanently removes all locally stored data.
  • iCloud data - you can remove synced data by disabling iCloud for the App or by using the Clear Statistics option, which also clears iCloud-synced progress.

9.2 Permissions

You can revoke camera, photo library, and notification permissions at any time through your device’s Settings.

9.3 California Residents (CCPA/CPRA)

If you are a California resident, you have the right to know what personal information is collected, to request its deletion, and to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information. We do not sell or share your personal information with third parties. Since all data is stored locally on your device and we do not collect personal information on external servers, these rights are inherently satisfied by the App’s design. 9.4 European Residents (GDPR)

If you reside in the European Economic Area, you have rights under the GDPR including the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict processing, and port your data. Because DMV Ready stores all data locally on your device and does not transmit personal data to external servers, you exercise these rights directly through your device (see Section 9.1). 10. Data Security

Your data is protected by Apple’s iOS security architecture, including app sandboxing and device encryption. Since data does not leave your device (except via iCloud, which is encrypted by Apple), the risk of unauthorized access is minimal. However, no method of electronic storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

11. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last Updated” date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this Privacy Policy periodically. Your continued use of the App after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated Privacy Policy.
